Very Disturbing Blog Follow – PLEASE READ

I have posted this on the WordPress Support Forum but don’t know how else to contact WordPress.

This morning I had a new follower in my notifications “Children Nudism”. That blog title is a red flag and curdled my stomach, on what has been a fairly annoying day already.

I clicked on the link hoping it would be nothing. It’s not nothing. I don’t know what it is because I quickly clicked back to my own page. All I saw was color photos of naked men perhaps at a beach and there were also plenty of naked photos of children. I don’t know what this site is but to me it is VERY disturbing.

I posted my query to WordPress an hour ago and have heard nothing.

Is there a way to control who follows you? Can I delete followers? I feel someone other than me should look at this blog and see what the hell is going on.

I don’t want to put anything in this post’s title or in the body of the post that will bring people with sick search terms to my blog.

This is really distressing me and I don’t know what to do. Any ideas?

We all need to be vigilant regarding our blogging community.  I have no idea how a blog with photos of naked children in it can be a legitimate blog. There should be a way to report disturbing or illegal blogs.

      1. I don’t twitter so I don’t know – but I did send this link and the contents of your blog post to the woman that emailed me when I was FP’d – send me a private email and I will send give you her email address to – hopefully she’ll respond quickly – I would be freaked out too.

  1. That’s awful…….. I don’t think there is any way to BLOCK a person from viewing our blogs, maybe WordPress will be vigilant about this and shut down his site

Ok, first I would call some, any, law enforcement agency that I could get on the phone and I would tell them and be on record as complaining and notifying them about it. I would imagine this is an FBI realm, but even if you just call PPD, they will surely take it up the chain if that link is still working or you have it cached or whatever. Sorry, that is incredibly disturbing. 😦

      1. Awesome… good work! It’s the one thing I dislike about WP, not being able to block followers. You shouldn’t have to delete your whole blog like I did just to get rid of some dink, ya know?

        1. They need to work on that. I know my follower count would go down substantially but I would still like the option. I’m really sorry you had to take down your blog, that’s ridiculous.

          1. Yeah if I had the option to block him and make my blog private I would have even if it did affect traffic. Oh well…good on you for taking care of the sick SOB that dared cross your path. Virtual high five, girl!

    1. WordPress says it has been taken down. I clicked on it and it still opened but I don’t want to do it again to see. And WP removed them as a follower of my blog. So sickening.

Good on you for taking positive steps to remove this bit of filth–my worry is the FBI won’t get to it before it is taken down…I suspect they can deal with WP for IP addresses.

My biggest soapbox is about these issues. We, as humans, cannot sit back and do nothing to protect our children. People give anger filled rants about the treatment of an animal–rightfully so–yet, the bulk of them don’t focus on the abuse of children! How can you logically expect animals to be treated in a humane fashion when the articles about a child pornography ring broken by the NSA and FBI–arresting adults and rescuing 31 CHILDREN, some as young as 3–sits on the back pages and is ignored by the media.

    I’ll hush now.

    1. I’m with you. In the last couple of days there was some child prostitution sting and they rescued 105 kids who were being used as prostitutes had been addicted to drugs, etc.

I will call the FBI after work, I’m sure they can get more info from WP.

  4. Seriously? This is disgusting. Eww. Just the idea of it is horrifying. Opening that and having the visual seared into your eyeballs and brain is such a violation. I hope to God that those children are safe and unharmed but I don’t see how that’s possible from what you say. I hope your steps have alerted the appropriate authorities. Keep us posted.

  5. I am so sorry you are going through this and have often wondered if I can get rid of followers too as I have some that are not recognizable and seem to be “plants” –let the rest of us know if you find out anything –again, I am so sorry

Way to be vigilant and proactive Maggie. Lets hope the authorities can track the scum down.
We should have more control over our blogs

  7. For some odd reason, I started getting numbers of followers with strange, nonsense gravatar names. I clicked on a few of them only to discover that they have no blogs and many were not even reachable. I wish WP would allow us to screen “followers”. You did precisely what you should have done. Thank you.

  8. Wow. What disturbs me most is WP has no way of manning their community, there could be more of these. I mean why did this person feel empowered to do that?! Anyway, thanks for being proactive and concerned enough to take action and keep taking action on that.

I feel like quite a few people would have rationalized that away and only taken care of themselves in this. Thanks for reporting it to more than just WP. Because who knows what will come of that…

    1. They moved fast. I think it would be a good idea if WP had buzz words (so to speak 🙂 that if the words show up, WP goes and has a look to see what it’s all about.

  9. I would have thought WP would have done a better job of monitoring, and wouldn’t let such a thing exist. I’m assuming that as soon as they are aware of it, it will be gone. But it is disturbing to know that it existed at all.

  10. I just discovered your blog today through Jolene of Valley Girl Gone Country and I have to say hats off to you! Great job reporting it, and I hope the site has been taken down, as a mom of 2, it sickens me to hear about children being violated.
    Thank you.

Worst nightmare I try to avoid clicking links. I don’t know. But there has to be a way to report this. My sister worked for an agency in New York that hunted these people down. If you want follow up I will help

This is some awful creepy shit. I didn’t know if it was appropriate to “like” this post. But I’m glad you wrote about this. This is never happened to me, or anyone I know. That is beyond weird / sick.

  14. Maggie, you are so right. It is incredibly disturbing and you do need to report it and I don’t know if only to WordPress. The FBI is number one and already suggested. Hopefully, WordPress did report it to them.
It seems we both have had our share of disturbing brushes with the sick or illegal world. If you see my recent post you will see that my confessed “paranoia” has been rewarded. I hope your report of the child predators will be equally as rewarding for you. Don’t let this stop you from expressing you opinions.
